welcome to kitchenartprint.com many of us have objects we use every day, in the kitchen or elsewhere, that are often simple yet familiar and that change slowly with time and use. It could be a favorite cup or a tool, a knife or a pair of scissors. We can grow to love these things because they are always there and miss them if they are broken or lost. this site is dedicated to those objects and to the qualities they acquire through prolonged handling. Even the most mundane things become special through prolonged use. They acquire a patina, it almost appears they have an aura. It is almost as though the ghosts of the people who have handled them hover still around them. Those ghosts turn the objects into totems. They lend a profound ambiguity so we begin to wonder exactly what are we seeing here. these images attempt to capture those abstract qualities. They aim to transcend the merely photographic and to create an aesthetic that resonates deeply with the viewer. Colin Cuthbert |
